Ural licorice is widely distributed in Xinjiang, while Glycyrrhiza uralensis is only distributed in Xinjiang, and no Glycyrrhiza uralensis populations have been found in the main production areas of Ural licorice in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Ningxia. Therefore, we infer that due to changes in natural conditions such as climate and soil, and long-term evolution and mutation of species, Ural licorice has gradually evolved into Glycyrrhiza uralensis or Glycyrrhiza uralensis, which is the most obvious feature of Glycyrrhiza uralensis: the fruit pods gradually change from sickle-shaped bending It is half-moon curved until it is upright; and the fruit pods gradually change from spherical to upright and gradually loose; the degree of denseness of the glandular hairs of the fruit pods gradually decreases, becoming thinner and thinner, until there is no glandular hair.

After millions of years of evolution and mutation, part of the Ural licorice growing in the area around Taklamakan, Xinjiang has evolved into Glycyrrhiza glabra or Glycyrrhiza glabra variety.
